The Villines Quintet
Lilliana Villines was born and raised in Los Angeles, finding her fervor in music in middle school. She started out as a singer songwriter and began high school at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts intending to pursue a career as a folk singer songwriter, influenced heavily by 20th century beat poets and folk and blues artists. However, in her second year of high school, she started singing in her school's jazz ensemble and has since been strengthening her skills as a jazz vocalist. She has since been playing gigs with peers in the jazz department and is auditioning for conservatories like Berklee College of Music, New School and USC for jazz as well as songwriting. At Berklee College of Music this summer, Lilliana was one of the winners of the Berklee Five Week Singer Songwriter Competition and got the opportunity to study with renowned folk artists Melissa Ferrick and Sally Taylor. This year, she won an honorable mention award from YoungArts, made it into the semifinal round for Spotlight Auditions, and has received a partial scholarship to Berklee College of Music.
